My favourite speedbuild – simple and effective
Today I’ll show you my favorite speed build for farming materials in ESO 2025.
Why is it my favorite? Because it’s simple, effective, and easy to put together. Unlike many other builds in the game, this one doesn’t require any trial gear, gold, or even upgraded equipment.
The movement speed cap in ESO is at 200%, while your base movement speed sits at 100%. That means you can potentially double your speed, making it significantly easier to farm material nodes, treasure chests, thieves troves, and similar resources. But its easier to reach the 200% cap then you think.
All you need is a bit of time and effort to unlock a few key components – and you’re good to go.
Let’s dive right in.
Our goal
This build is all about one thing: movement speed. You won’t need high damage, resistances, or a large health pool – because combat isn’t the goal here. Our objective is to get to the 200% movement speed cap without even sprinting. Just walking. That way, you can efficiently gather materials with minimal effort and maximum uptime.
Here’s a quick overview of the build basics:
- Race: All races are viable (pick what you prefer or already play)
- Attributes: 64 points into Stamina
- Setup: We’ll use 2 gear sets, 1 mythic item, and a specific Mundus Stone to boost our movement speed
What do we need?
Mundus stone
Let’s start with the easiest part of the build: the Mundus Stone.
If you’re not familiar with them – Mundus Stones are large, interactable stones scattered across Tamriel that grant permanent buffs. The specific buff depends on the stone you choose. For our speed build, we’re going with “The Steed”. It grants +10% movement speed, which makes it perfect for material farming.
A few quick facts:
- You can only have one Mundus effect active at a time. If you interact with a different stone later, it will overwrite your current buff.
- There are currently three locations where you can find The Steed stone. Just interact with it once, and the effect stays active until you swap it out.
- You can improve the buff with the “Divines” Trait.
Gear Sets
We’ll be using two gear sets for this build, and the good news is – they’re both pretty easy to obtain. Your character has a total of 12 potential equipment slots:
- 3 for jewelry
- 2 weapon slots (per bar)
- 7 armor slots
One of the ring slots will be taken by a mythic item (which we’ll cover later), leaving us with 11 available slots for set pieces. For this type of build, it doesn’t really matter which slots the items occupy—what’s important is that you activate both set bonuses. We’ll be using 10 of the remaining 11 slots to equip the following sets:
- Jailbreaker, which drops in the dungeons The Banished Cells I & II
- Adept Rider, a craftable set available at specific set crafting stations
Below, you’ll find an overview of the bonuses each set provides and why they’re ideal for a high-speed farming build.

Jailbreaker
(2 items) Adds Maximum Stamina
(3 items) Adds Maximum Stamina Recovery
(4 items) Adds Maximum Stamina Recovery
(5 items) Adds Maximum Stamina Recovery
(5 items) Gain Minor Expedition at all times, increasing your Movement Speed by 15 %.
Adept Rider
(2 items) Adds Armor
(3 items) Adds Armor
(4 items) Adds Maximum Health
(5 items) Gain Gallop and Major Expedition at all times, increasing your Movement Speed by 30% and Mounted Speed by 15%.
As you can see, both sets boost our movement speed – Jailbreaker grants a 15% increase, and Adept Rider adds another 30% when wearing five pieces of each. Together with the mundus stone, that’s already a significant boost and forms the core of our speed-focused build.
A equipment list for all the character slots could look like this.
Adept Rider
- 1x Ring
- Necklace
- Bow (or any other weapon as long as you cover both weapon slots)
- Helmet
Jailbreaker:
- Chest
- Legs
- Boots
- Wrist
- Gloves
This way you would achieve five items of each set, but feel free to exchange any of the slots dependend on the items that drop for you. For the weapons it’s important to know, that two-handed weapons count as two set items and a one-handed weapon counts as one. In case you wanna use one-handed weapons, you need two of the same set. The quality of the items doesn’t matter in terms of movement speed, but you can always upgrade to epic or legendary quality to get better stats in case you need them.
Bonus tip: This tip isn’t mandatory, but if you want to get some additional movement speed percentages from your mundus stone, you can craft the Adept Rider set with the “Divines” trait. This trait increases the mundus stones effect.
Mythic – Ring of the Wild Hunt
Now let’s talk about the most important item in this build – the Ring of the Wild Hunt. This mythic item grants 45% increased movement speed while out of combat. Combined with the 45% from our gear sets and the 10% from the Mundus Stone, we can easily hit the 200% movement speed cap, even without sprinting or using the special traits.
Like all mythic items in The Elder Scrolls Online, the Ring of the Wild Hunt is acquired through the Antiquities system. You’ll need to collect five different leads for the five components of the ring. Once you’ve gathered and excavated all of them, you’ll be rewarded with the completed item. In my opinion the five leads of this ring are pretty easy to obtain, compared to other mythics. You only need to kill some dungeon, world and delve bosses.
In the list below, you’ll find all five leads and how you get them:
- Band of Water – drops from bosses inside the public dungeon “Bad Man’s Hallows” (Glenumbra)
- Charm of the Shapeless – drops from all world and delve bosses in Murkmire
- Face of the Serpent – drops from Canonreeve Oraneth, the final dungeon boss in “Elden Hollow I” (Grahtwood)
- Face of the Wolf Beast – drops from all world bosses in Malabal Tor
- Symbol of Y’ffre – drops from all world bosses in Greenshade
And there you have it – your Ring of the Wild Hunt! Once you complete the fifth lead and assemble the ring, it comes with the “Swift” trait by default, which grants an additional 7% movement speed.
However, since we’re already reaching the 200% movement speed cap without it, this bonus won’t make a difference while out of combat. Just like the Divines trait, though, it can be useful when you’re in combat, where the ring’s base bonus is reduced to 15%. In those cases, every bit of extra speed helps.

Championpoints – More comfort and efficiency while farming materials
In terms of speed, we are already done with our speedbuild, but there are some extras which make the material farming process way more comfortable and even efficient and profitable.
As already covered in our guide about the “Best materials to farm in ESO 2025 | Part 01”, there are three mandatory champion point nodes, which you should get. The only barrier which you might have – you need to be CP level 600+ to get all three nodes.
#01 Meticulous Disassembly
This node is key to efficient gold material farming. Activating it, increases the chance of getting golden materials while refining raw material farmed in the open world or bought through a guild trader.
#02 Master Gatherer
If you activate Master Gatherer you can reduce the time it takes to harvest up to 50% and believe me – that makes a huge difference farming way more chilled. But you need to invest 75 championpoints to get there. As the tooltip already says, you only get 10% per stage and every stage costs 15 CP. Its totally worth it if you ask me.
#03 Plentiful Harvest
The third and last node I want to mention is Plentiful harvest. As well as master gatherer it has 5 stages and every stage increases your chance to gain double resources from normal resource nodes. That means you can increase this buff up to 50% which hits pretty hard. This way you can get way more materials for your time and effort.
Here is a short summary of the path to reach the three nodes:
- 1O Points into: Gilded Fingers
- 10 Points ino: Fortune’s Favor
- 15 Points into: Inspiration Boost
- 50 Points into: Meticulous Disassembly
- 75 Points into: Master Gatherer
- 50 Points into: Plentiful Harvest
Final thoughts
That’s it with my favourite speed build in ESO 2025. Feel free to adjust it for your own purposes. I broke it down to the parts, which are most important to me. You can always improve your build with enchantments, consumables, traits and all the nice things that ESO delivers. But this build is good starting point. See you in Tamriel and may your bags always overflow with resources!
